Troubleshooting

This is a standard Apple security mechanism called Gatekeeper. It happens occasionally with professional software distributed outside the Mac App Store: macOS puts the file in quarantine as a precaution, even though the file is perfectly intact.

To remove the quarantine attribute and validate the security signature, follow these steps:

1. Move the DirectorAI app into your Applications folder.
2. Open Terminal (you can find it by pressing Cmd + Space and typing "Terminal").
3. Copy and paste this exact command and press Enter:
   sudo xattr -cr /Applications/DirectorAI.app
4. It will ask for your Mac user password. Type it in (for security you will not see the characters as you type) and press Enter. The app will then open correctly.

This error means your PC has virtual machine support switched off. Follow these steps in order to fix it:

1. STEP 1: Check the BIOS (the cause in 90% of cases)

   Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) > Performance tab > CPU.

   • If it says Virtualization: Disabled, restart your PC, enter the BIOS (F2, F10 or Del while booting) and look for the Intel VT-x or AMD-SVM option to turn it on (Enabled).
   • If it already says Enabled, move on to the next step.
2. STEP 2: Turn on Windows features

   Press the Windows key, type "Turn Windows features on or off" and open it.

   Make sure these two boxes are ticked, then restart the PC:

   • ✅ Virtual Machine Platform
   • ✅ Windows Subsystem for Linux
3. STEP 3: Repair WSL (if the command is not recognised)

   If updating gives you the error "The term 'wsl' is not recognized...", the base installation is damaged. You have two options:

   Option A (easy): Open the Microsoft Store, search for "Windows Subsystem for Linux" and hit "Install".
   Option B (advanced): Open PowerShell as Administrator and run this repair command to force activation:

   dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:Microsoft-Windows-Subsystem-Linux /all /norestart

This happens when leftovers from a previous installation remain. Follow these steps to clean them up:

1. Delete the leftover folders: Delete the "Docker" folder if it exists in these paths:
   • C:\Program Files\Docker
   • C:\Users\[TU_USUARIO]\AppData\Roaming\Docker
2. Clean the registry: Press Win + R, type regedit and delete these keys if they exist:
   • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Docker Inc.
   • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Docker Desktop
3. Restart and install: reboot the PC and run the installer again as Administrator.

The screen tells you which step it stopped at and why. Click Try again: it carries on where it left off, without repeating what was already done. If it fails again, look up the message you see here:

• The license is not valid or directorai.org does not accept it: copy it again from My account. It is the same code you use in the program.
• WordPress cannot install themes or plugins: your hosting does not allow writing to the WordPress folder. Ask its support team to allow it: it is usually the file permissions or the DISALLOW_FILE_MODS constant in wp-config.php.
• Something could not be downloaded: your hosting did not reach directorai.org or wordpress.org. It is usually an outage of a few minutes: wait a little and click Try again. If it happens again, ask your hosting to allow outgoing connections from WordPress.
• It gets stuck or a server error appears (500, 503 or 504): the hosting cut the step off because of time or memory. Reload the page and click Try again. If it happens again, ask them to raise memory_limit to 256 MB and max_execution_time to 300 seconds.
• This WordPress is a network of sites: DirectorAI needs a regular, single-site WordPress. Create a new one on your hosting.

If none of this fixes it, open Technical details in the error box and send us what it says through Contact.

When you click Test connection, the program checks that your WordPress already has the DirectorAI theme and configuration before uploading anything. If it says it is not set up yet, go to your WordPress dashboard, open DirectorAI Engine in the side menu and click Set up my site. When it finishes, click Test connection in the program again.
