Automate the creation of Web Directories

This is a standard Apple security mechanism called Gatekeeper. It happens occasionally with professional software distributed outside the Mac App Store: macOS puts the file in quarantine as a precaution, even though the file is perfectly intact.

To remove the quarantine attribute and validate the security signature, follow these steps:

1. Move the DirectorAI app into your Applications folder.
2. Open Terminal (you can find it by pressing Cmd + Space and typing "Terminal").
3. Copy and paste this exact command and press Enter:
   sudo xattr -cr /Applications/DirectorAI.app
4. It will ask for your Mac user password. Type it in (for security you will not see the characters as you type) and press Enter. The app will then open correctly.

This error means your PC has virtual machine support switched off. Follow these steps in order to fix it:

1. STEP 1: Check the BIOS (the cause in 90% of cases)

   Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) > Performance tab > CPU.

   • If it says Virtualization: Disabled, restart your PC, enter the BIOS (F2, F10 or Del while booting) and look for the Intel VT-x or AMD-SVM option to turn it on (Enabled).
   • If it already says Enabled, move on to the next step.
2. STEP 2: Turn on Windows features

   Press the Windows key, type "Turn Windows features on or off" and open it.

   Make sure these two boxes are ticked, then restart the PC:

   • ✅ Virtual Machine Platform
   • ✅ Windows Subsystem for Linux
3. STEP 3: Repair WSL (if the command is not recognised)

   If updating gives you the error "The term 'wsl' is not recognized...", the base installation is damaged. You have two options:

   Option A (easy): Open the Microsoft Store, search for "Windows Subsystem for Linux" and hit "Install".
   Option B (advanced): Open PowerShell as Administrator and run this repair command to force activation:

   dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:Microsoft-Windows-Subsystem-Linux /all /norestart

The software relies on a few helper tools, depending on your operating system and preferences:

• Windows: you need Docker Desktop installed to run the scraper safely.
• Mac: the Go language is required to run background processes.
• Local AI (optional): the built-in local writer (llama.cpp) needs no installation: DirectorAI downloads and configures it automatically for your GPU and RAM. Only if you prefer Ollama or LM Studio will you need to install those.

Note: do not worry about hunting them down. DirectorAI detects automatically if any are missing and offers to download and install them from their official sources in one click.

This happens when leftovers from a previous installation remain. Follow these steps to clean them up:

1. Delete the leftover folders: Delete the "Docker" folder if it exists in these paths:
   • C:\Program Files\Docker
   • C:\Users\[TU_USUARIO]\AppData\Roaming\Docker
2. Clean the registry: Press Win + R, type regedit and delete these keys if they exist:
   • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Docker Inc.
   • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Docker Desktop
3. Restart and install: reboot the PC and run the installer again as Administrator.

The main difference is cost and speed:

• OpenAI/OpenRouter: pay per use (API key), but you get very high quality and coherent writing without using up your PC’s resources.
• Local (llama.cpp, Ollama or LM Studio): free, but it uses your computer’s CPU/GPU. llama.cpp comes built in and configures itself by detecting your hardware; quality depends on the model you download (the program recommends and downloads models from its own interface) and speed depends on how powerful your machine is.

• City Mode: you build a complete directory centred on a single city (e.g. "Madrid"), covering as many categories as you define (lawyers, restaurants, dentists...). Ideal for vertical local portals. You can include unlimited categories and subcategories.
• Country Mode: you choose a country (e.g. "Spain") and one or more niches (e.g. "plumbers" or "plumbers, locksmiths, electricians..."). The program automatically finds that country’s most relevant cities and generates the specific pages for each city, and for each city, pages for its neighbourhoods or districts.

DirectorAI does not simply copy the Google rating; it uses its own weighted algorithm to produce a unique score from 0 to 10. The calculation takes three main factors into account:

• Rating: the original star rating, normalised.
• Reliability: the volume of reviews. A business with 4.5 stars and 1,000 reviews scores higher than one with 5.0 stars and only 2 reviews (logarithmic scale).
• Competitive position: it compares the business with the others found in that same city and category.

This gives a fair, balanced ranking that rewards both quality and track record.

It depends on your settings and the data found, but it scales massively:

• City Mode: it depends how many categories and subcategories you define. With the default structure, sites of over 2,000 pages are common.
• Country Mode: it depends on the niches and the size of the country. Multiplying niches by cities and by neighbourhoods, sites of 50,000 pages or more are perfectly feasible.

The program builds a complete, hierarchical information architecture:

• City Mode: home, categories, subcategories (listings), individual business pages and sitemap.
• Country Mode (1 niche): home, city, neighbourhoods, individual business pages, "niche near me", "all locations" and sitemap.
• Country Mode (multi-niche): home, niche pages, "niche in location", "niche in neighbourhood", individual business pages, "niche near me", an index of locations per niche and sitemap.

The program analyses the real addresses of the businesses it extracts. If it finds enough of them (at least 2) concentrated in a specific sub-area (district/neighbourhood), it automatically generates a dedicated page for that neighbourhood (e.g. Lawyers in Triana, Seville). This hugely improves local SEO by targeting very specific searches.

Ideally you would do keyword research, looking at search volume and competition in the target country. If you want a faster route, though, you can ask an AI (such as ChatGPT or Gemini): "Give me a list of local services with high demand and low digital competition in [country]". That gives you an excellent starting point.
