System requirements
- Windows: The scraper runs isolated so it can work with maximum precision. The app uses WSL when available and falls back to Docker Desktop otherwise: it guides you through setting up whichever is needed.
- Mac: the scraper runs on Docker Desktop. If you do not have it, DirectorAI downloads it and guides you through the installation.

Set up your WordPress
Create a WordPress site on your hosting (almost all of them install it in one click) and add the DirectorAI Engine plugin, which you download above. It sets up your WordPress just like DirectorAI sites: the theme, the plugins and the whole configuration.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins, click Add Plugin and then Upload Plugin. Choose the directorai-engine.zip file and activate it.
- Set up my site opens. Paste your license code and click Check.
- Click Set up my site. In a few minutes the theme, the plugins and the configuration are in place.

Settings
It is the same license code you use in the program. If you close the screen halfway through, go back to DirectorAI Engine in the side menu and carry on where you left off. Seeing a warning? It is covered in Troubleshooting.
Alternative: import the WordPress base (.wpress)
If you prefer, download the base.wpress file and import it into a clean WordPress with the All-in-One WP Migration plugin. Everything arrives set up, but it replaces the whole site, users included, and you log in with these credentials:
Change the password the moment you log in. These are public credentials and everyone knows them.
Activate your licence in the app
Open DirectorAI, go to the Settings tab and paste the same licence code. It is always at hand in your account once registered: copy it from there and paste it.
Set up your AI engine
Choose the brain that will write: a cloud AI or the free local writer. And right here you set the website language and your two brand colours.
Cloud: OpenAI or OpenRouter
Top speed. Paste your API key in Settings and start writing.
Local: llama.cpp for free
The app downloads it and sets it up without you touching a thing. Also compatible with Ollama and LM Studio.
Choose your strategy
This is where you make the big call: whether your directory covers a whole city or an entire country. Time to think carefully about what you are going to list.
City Mode
One city and all its categories and subcategories: restaurants, lawyers, plumbers, gyms... Take your time with the list, because it is the backbone of your website.
You are not starting from scratch: the app ships with a huge ready-made list of categories. Adapt it to your city or keep only the ones that fit.

Country & Niche Mode
One country and one niche. Here what you define is the topic: you can list several similar niches separated by commas and the software will find the major cities, with their neighbourhoods.
Group related niches on the same website: dentists, dental clinics, orthodontists.

In both modes, always write categories and niches in the plural: "Plumbers", not "Plumber". The program takes care of switching them to singular wherever the text needs it.

Generate and let it work
Hit Generate and watch the phases: real data, an optional manual filter to polish categories, and the writing with locally created images. The blog schedules itself, on irregular days and daytime hours.
Publish to WordPress
With the DirectorAI Engine plugin installed, you hit Upload to WordPress and the listings travel on their own from the app: no files in between and nothing to configure. Thousands of pages published with their images on your server.
Manual method (optional): CSV with WP All Import
Your WordPress already has WP All Import installed with the templates ready, so this route takes four steps:
- Save the CSV the program generates instead of uploading it.
- Go to WP All Import > New Import and upload that file.
- Pick the pre-configured template: DirectorAI Web for the directory or DirectorAI Blog for the articles.
- Review the summary and run the import.
